Rooney has had a rubbish season according to me. But even though we think its a rubbish season look at the stats. Other players with those stats would have been complimented especially considering the way he gets thrown around position-wise by sir alex.
The question for me though is the loss of pace, the loss of focus, the loss of the natural ability he had. From the moment he arrived at united he was a star, a player i personally adored, he was just outstanding and people (including myself) tipped him for greatness what ronaldo and messi are seeing now. Of course that sounds crazy, but if you had seen the boy play when he was 18/19/20 you would be amazed at what he could do.
Where has all that gone? It just doesn't go away like this. Is it all to do with fitness and fergie playing him all over the park? Surely theres more too this?

He's only 27, fergie keeps talking about him entering his peak, but this is no where near wayne rooney's peak. It just looks all downhill from here.

The thing with wayne now is he has 2 choices, stay on fight for a place in the #9 and #10 role or give up and leave. I would prefer the former choice, im also sure the wayne rooney who joined manchester united would prefer the first choice, but he's changed, his maturity has come at a huge price, and it is a shame that he will never be the player we hoped for, a disappointment to say the least.

I agree with quite a few of your points in the article, but im quite sure he did excel as a striker, and as for him leaving, i can see it happening but i would hate if it happens. When he plays well the team ticks brilliant along with them, and when that happens well he is manchester united's heart beat. I trust him to bounce back, but neither is time on his side and by the looks of it nor is fergie.
