“You find out life’s this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game – life or football – the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don’t quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don’t quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that’s gonna make the fucking difference between winning and losing!” Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday.
Arsene Wenger brings his young guns to Old Trafford tomorrow in the hope of avenging their embarrassing 8-2 loss last season. Luckily for the Red Devils, Arsenal’s defence looks no better this season than it did during the last and with Robin Van Persie’s now on the other side, a few very optimistic Reds may even be hoping for a similar scoreline.
More realistically, the Dutchman’s departure in the summer will fire up the likes of Thomas Vermalean and Co who will be keen to make amends for their out of character performances last year. The likes of Oliver Giroud and Thomas Walcott will take great encouragement from their goals in midweek and it is sure to be a great fixture. They will provide a number of challenges to Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans and, all things considered, it is likely to be a high scoring encounter!

The Red Devils travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday for the biggest match of their season so far. With the Blues top of the Premier League table, Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to take some points away from the likes of Hazard and Co. However, with our flurry of injuries and defensive uncertainty, it seems more than likely that United will have to go on the offensive rather than the defensive in this difficult away fixture.
Whilst United can take confidence from the fact that they scored three goals at Stamford Bridge last season and Robin van Persie scored a hat trick against them too, the Blues have been in fine form with their fluid front three of Hazard, Oscar and Mata and are firing on all cylinders. As discussed in our Pre Match Interview, it’s definitely an early season six pointer and is sure to be full of goals.
