After appearing on the bench away at Southampton, Powell travelled with the rest of the squad to Hamburg and showed a surprising burst of pace and great composure to dink a deft chip to leave Odisseas Vlachodimos helpless in goal.
Nonetheless, Powell was outshone by Liverpool’s new acquisition, Yesil, who grabbed two goals and an asssist. Other notable youngsters on show included Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Max Clayton (Crewe) and Nathaniel Chalaboah (Chelsea) who are all darlings of the club’s youth academies. Tyler Blackett, Jack Barmby and Jonathan Sutherland were the other United players on show.
